Old Whipple House, Ipswich, Massachusetts

American artist Francis E. Getty (1861-1945), of Winchester, Massachusetts, created this pencil sketch (on paper, 9 x 6 inches). He belonged to the Salmagundi Club, an arts organization in New York City. This piece was exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1891. Its current appraised fair market value is $750.00; its replacement value is between $950.00 and $1050.00. This copy of the original was contributed to the Whipple Website by Paul Tolsch (pdtolsch@aol.com), who owns the original. (A recent photograph of the house, as well as another drawing by Getty of the house's kitchen, are also on this site.)
