      sources: Arizona birth certificate, Ancestry.com, mother's obituary: "The youngest [son], Robin Whipple, a lieutenant in the air force, was captured at Corregidor when the Japanese invaded the Philippine Islands and survived the famous "death march" only to die in a Japanese prison camp in Osaka, Japan, January 11, 1943. He was a graduate of the College of San Mateo. Robin was awarded the bronze which was given to Mrs. Whipple." "...Robin Whipple way in Belmont was named [for him.] [Robin Whipple Way is still a street in Belmont]
