!SOURCE: Email from Kenneth Bryden Craib (email hidden) to the Whipple Website, 1 Dec 2011. He writes:The first record I've found for Sarah is also the 1849 Intention of Marriage. I've found no records of birth proving her parents as James Beaumont and Abigail (Gookin) Beaumont (as listed on her Death Certificate), however, Sarah's Census records consistently list her father as coming from England and mother for MA. The 1830 & 1840 Censuses for James Beaumont do include a daughter who would have been Sarah's approximate age. As previously mentioned, James was one of the first textile industrialists in the US and Abigail was a lineal descendent of a Jamestown settler (Maj Gen Daniel Gookin) who later removed to MA. I can send information on both James Beaumont and Dan Gookin if Abigail Whipple's descendants are interested in those lines.
