- !SOURCE: Email from B. Huckins to Weldon Whipple, 24 Jan 2009. Notes that the birth date is "unsourced, reported on rootsweb, census points to born abt 1828-30." Also cites/notes the following:
- John Horry Dent, South Carolina Aristocrat on the Alabama Frontier, Gerald Ray Mathis, Historic Chattahoochee Commission, 1979 (this source identifies the wife of (Jonah) John Horry Dent as Fanny A. Whipple 1829-1875 of Richmond, Vermont, married in 1854 in Clayton (Alabama) by Mr. Wm B. Neal of the Methodist Church in the home of Mrs. Charles Petty. The book gives an account of the journey from Vermont but does not identify her ancestry nor her exact date of birth.
- John Henry Dent Papers, Special Collections, University of California
- Alabama Historical Quarterly, Alabama Dept of Archives and History, 1963 Vol, notes Jonah's plantation was doing well with large profits in the early 1850's until the "fever" of 1853 in which he suffered financial and personal losses. He sold his plantation "Good Hope" and rented out his slaves, moving moved to Clayton where he married Miss Fanny Whipple, a native of Richmont, Vermont.
- Charles County Gentry (Maryland), Harry W. Newman, 1940, gives history of Dent family down to Jonah's father, John Herbert Dent.
- FamilySearch.org gives approx dob of Fannie A. Whipple 1830 b VT, as submitted, no birth record found
- Ancestry.com gives names of children and dob of Fanny as 9.6.1829, no source given. One listing gives mother's name as Mary Stevens, however neither of the two Mary Stevens known married to Whipples were likely the mother of this Fanny.
