  !SOURCE: Email from Kevin Rice (email hidden) to the Whipple Website, 22 Mar 2017: I noticed on your lineage charts that you have Amy Whipple and James Henry Rice having a son Thomas (their 4th child, along with John, Mary Jane, and William) that was born in 1868 and died in the same year. That information is incorrect. Thomas Rice was my great grandfather and he lived with us up until his death in 1962. Amy died in childbirth (as did the child) in August of 1868 but the child was Daniel not Thomas. Thomas was always recorded as living from 1868-1962 but it is actually 1867-1962. Capron) According to A Modern History of New London, CT (Marshall, 1922), Amy died at the birth of her last child, the name of the child given in that source is Thomas Rice b 8.29.1868 (whether that child d. or is the Daniel age 1 appearing in the 1870 census is unknown. James Rice m his second wife in 1869 so Daniel could possibly be their child.)
