Bruce writes: "George Whipple was born in 1792 in Norwichtown, CT. He moved to Boonton, NJ (Morris County) to work in the Iron Mill that was owned and founded by the Lathop family from Norwichtown, CT. Prior to moving to Morris County he was a blacksmith just south of the village green in Norwichtown." !SOURCE: Email from Bruce Whipple (email hidden) to Weldon Whipple, 31 Oct 2004. Bruce writes: During a recent visit to the George Whipple plot in Boonton, NJ, I noted that his birthdate on the tombstone was 1786. The change in date may lead to some answers. Some initial theories as follows: Connection to Preserved Whipple? I was researching that line and noted that the names were almost identical to the name that George and his successors named their children. I also noted that a John was born in the same year.
