Norma writes: "I don't think Eliab was married to Ardelia Comfort Haskell (born May 27, 1804 in Cumberland, RI) as she married Simeon Steadman in Cumberland, RI on Aug. 12, 1840. (Arnold's VR is source for both dates.) ... There is an Ardelia Whipple (abt 1834-July 25, 1855) buried in the Ballou Cemetery in Cumberland, RI; perhaps she is a daughter of Eliab and Nancy (Grant) Whipple, or, possibly, a second wife who married and died quite young. A long shot, but I suppose Ardelia C. Haskell could have married Eliab Whipple, had Eliab D. Whipple in 1831, divorced Eliab, reclaimed her maiden name, and married Simeon Steadman in 1840."
