!IDENTITY: N. Combs, in email of 2 May 2003 to Weldon Whipple ("Descendants of Christopher Dexter"), initially identified this Dr. Comstock as Ezekiel Comstock (RIN 45451). In a subsequent email of 22 Jul 2004, Norma writes further:
Re Lydia Comstock {67872}, the record of her marriage in Arnold's VRs (16:51, US Chronicle 2/7/1793) says that she is the daughter of Dr. Ezekiel Comstock, of Smithfield, RI. Evidently, I mistakenly identified Dr. Ezekiel Comstock {45451} as a possibility, but that can't be true because he is about the same age as she (so please delete that statement on Dr. Comstock's page {67873}. There was, however, another Dr. Ezekiel Comstock {77076} in Smithfield who died there July 06, 1777 (src: Smithfield, RI Deaths Culled from Probates, 346). His will of July 2, 1777 names his mother Martha, wife Mary, son Henry {77076} under 21; daughters Martha, Wait {77072}, Hannah, & Phebe all under 18, and doesn't mention a Lydia, so he doesn't appear to be the right one, either. He is, possibly, the uncle of Ezekiel {45451}, but more research would have to be done to prove that. Of course, Arnold's VRs could be mistaken, as a Dr. Ichabod Comstock of Smithfield died after Lydia's marriage; and the marriage records in Arnold's seem to make note when a father is deceased and her marriage record didn't say that.
