Adds birth place and death date and place. Quotes obituary from the Boston Transcript (date missing): "Died in Philadelphia, 5th instant, Capt. John Whipple, age 81. He was born in Danvers, Mass. in 1776, and was a son of Capt. Job Whipple of the American Army, who was wounded in the battle of Bennington. The deceased formerly held several posts in this city, but had long been retired from participation in public affairs."
