!SOURCE: The Record of Births, Marriages and Deaths, and intentions of Marriage, in the Town of Dedham, 1635-1845 (s.l.: s.n., 1886), p. 80. (GIves Josiah's marriage to Mary Simpson 18 Jan 1749/50 in Dedham, Massachusetts.

!SOURCE: Email from Earl Wm. ("Bill") Kennedy (email hidden) to Weldon Whipple, 30 Apr 2005. Cites the following (as well as additional vital records and records of Dedham, MA):
      • "Prentiss Glazier typescript on the Chamberlain family, seemingly well researched (based on the Chamberlain Family Association Reports of 1908-1910), done ca. 1954: it has Josiah Chamberlain, born Newton 1721, married Dedham 1750 Mary Simpson; he was dead by 1759 when his widow applied for guardianship of their 4 children; neither marriage record nor all 4 grandchildren mentioned in grandfather Jacob Chamberlain's will. According to Glazier, this Josiah and his wife Mary (Simpson) were the parents of Josiah, Jr. (born Roxbury 1751; John 1754 (baptized Roxbury), Mary, and Susanna 1757 (baptized Dedham"
      • "Josiah (born 1721) was the son of Jacob Chamberlain (1692-1771 Newton) and Susanna Stone. Josiah Chamberlain, son of Josiah and Mary was born 7 February 1751 in Roxbury, MA (Vital Records); it was he who, according to "Mass. Soldiers and Sailor in the Revolution" enlisted at age 30 from the town of New Marlborough in July 1781; it states that he was born in Roxbury; carpenter; stature 5' 11", black hair; complexion dark;…etc., etc. His widow appears in 1840 census of Revolutionary War Pensioners: Mary Chamberlain, aged 86, in Marlborough, Vermont. I have the sworn testimony by her and her brother Ebenezer Cheney about her marriage to Josiah Chamberlain in 1777."
      • "Roxbury and Dedham vital records: Josiah Chamberlain married 18 January 1749/50 Mary Simpson in Dedham, MA; both were then of Dedham; intention 23 December 1749. . Josiah Chamberlain, son of Josiah and Mary, was born 7 February 1751 (=February 1750/51?) in Roxbury, MA, and baptized in Dedham 17 February 1751 (1750/51?)(he was named in his grandfather's will). He had younger siblings, John baptized 11 August 1754 Roxbury, Mary Simpson (probably the Mary named in her grandfather's will in 1770), and Susannah, baptized 22 May 1757 in Dedham. Josiah Chamberlain (born 1721) appears to have died probably early in 1758; his widow, Mary, born 12 May 1733, daughter of John Simpson (died 1771 Dedham) and his wife Mary Randall (who were married in Boston 24 September 1724)(she was dead by 28 May 1745 when John Simpson of Boston married - Judith Fisher of Dedham - in Dedham; she was dead by 1771). The children of John Simpson and Mary Randall are recorded in Boston records (see IGI). John Simpson was buried 21 May 1771 - recorded in Nathaniel Ames' diary 1758-1822 (Dedham Historical Society)"
