"Darwin was Under Sheriff in Eau Claire City and resigned to take part in the Civil War, serving in Unit 16, Wisconsin infantry and mustering out on July 12, 1865. Laura died in 1839 and he married Ann Bodfitch Lamb October 12, 1843 in Naperville. He was a farmer. He was a Charter member of Euclid Chapter No. 13, Royal Arch Masons.
